Mitsubishi Triton is Reborn

2
Mitsubishi-L200

The Bakkie segment is one of the hotly contested segments in South Africa and one that compels the competing automakers to stay on their toes with regards to the products they have on offer. In comes the Mitsubishi Triton or the L200 as it’s referred to as in Europe, an all-new “Sport Utility Truck” as Mitsubishi puts it, to do battle with the very well established and sales topping Toyota Hilux, Ford Ranger, Mazda BT-50, Volkswagen Amarok and the almost forgotten Nissan Navara. This pick is said to be designed for flexibility and toughness while maintaining a comfortable ride, the automaker says.

Powerplants sees the use of a 2.4 turbodiesel engine offerred as a 113kW/380N.m output unit or a 132kW/430N.m tuned version. These are mated to a 6-Speed manual transmission. Built in Thailand and offered as a Double Cab as well as a Club Cab, the Mitsubishi Triton/L200 will go on sale in Europe in mid 2015, with a strong suspicion that it will make it to South Africa soon or later after that.

So where does one go if one wants some nice roads to drive on? Well there’s one obvious place.
